The Erie Maritime Museum is home port to the U.S. Brig Niagara, a Sailing School Vessel with an active sail training program during the summer months. When in port the ship is open for tours, please call ahead to check visitation schedule or to apply to sail as a student. Through historical artifacts and interactive, hands-on displays, the Erie Maritime Museum vividly illustrates the War of 1812, including the Battle of Lake Erie and the reconstruction and sailing of today’s Niagara. The U.S. Navy's first iron-hulled ship, U.S.S. Michigan/Wolverine, is the subject of the museum's newest exhibit.
