Daniel Boone Homestead has been restored and furnished to depict rural life in the 18th century and the cultural diversity of eastern Berks County. The home of Daniel Boone's birthplace in 1734 is furnished to interpret the Boone Family and the story of early settlement in the Pennsylvania region. Buildings that are open to the public include the Boone House, Smokehouse, Blacksmith Shop, Homestead Barn and a Bertolet Log House with Bakehouse and the Bertolet Sawmill. The site includes miles of trails, picnic areas, overnight youth group camping facilities, and traditional landscapes set on 579 acres of rolling Berks County countryside. Annual events include living history programs, flintlock shoots, nature programs, lectures, and many school program offerings.
