Carnegie Museum Of Art

Carnegie Museum of Art, founded by industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie in 1895, is one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh and is nationally and internationally recognized for its distinguished collection of American and European works of art from the 16th century to the present. The museum's collection of Impressionist and post-Impressionist paintings is especially fine. The museum's Heinz Architectural Center is dedicated to the collection, study, and exhibition of architectural drawings and models. The museum’s Hall of Architecture houses one of the three largest architectural cast collections in the world. Andrew Carnegie's vision of collecting the "old masters of tomorrow" centered on a regularly occurring exhibition of international contemporary art, the Carnegie International. Today over 100 years after its founding, the Carnegie International is the most prestigious international survey of contemporary art in North America.
