Pennsylvania Puts the PA in Play Ball!

With two MLB teams, more than a handful of minor league squads and an annual host of the Little League World Series, there is no doubt PA is a major player in America’s pastime.

2014 marked the 75th anniversary of Little League Baseball; learn how the league’s history is uniquely intertwined with that of the U.S., and even the world at the World of Little League Peter J. McGovern Museum in Williamsport. The Little League World Series occurs in August — don’t miss your chance to see the world’s best young baseball players compete for the national and international championship!

Check out a minor league game or two while in PA to enjoy a more hometown feel while on vacation. The Fightin’ Phils entertain their fans with more than just great baseball. Their stadium features a swimming pool and picnic areas, giving tailgating a whole new, family-friendly meaning, and fan giveaways and fireworks are common occurrences during games. The Lancaster Barnstormers have hilarious fan contests and bumper boats. The Harrisburg Senators are yet another option – no matter where you are in PA, there will be a minor league team nearby!

To add to its impressive baseball repertoire, PA is also home to famed wooden bat manufacturer, BWP Bats, LLC, located in Brookville. If you’ve ever been curious about how the game’s best bats are made, then take a free tour of the factory. And be sure to pick up a memento from the gift shop!

PA’s major league teams include the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Philadelphia Phillies; both teams put on a good show and are a great addition to any PA vacation!
